Traits of God’s Small Servants

Psalm 8.1-2LORD, our Lord, how magnificent is your name throughout the earth! You have covered the heavens with your majesty. (2)  From the mouths of infants and nursing babies, you have established a stronghold on account of your adversaries in order to silence the enemy and the avenger.

 

  1. God’s Small Servants are Faithful.
    1. Bible Examples
      1. Hall of Faith - Hebrews 11
      2. Jonathan and his Armor Bearer – 1 Samuel 14.6
    2. Application
      1. We are not called to be successful; we are called to be faithful.
      2. Our job is to “plant and water.” God gives the growth. – 1 Corinthians 3:6-7
      3. “I give effort God gives victory.”
         
  2. God’s Small Servants Work Hard.
    1. Bible Example: Christians in Ephesus – Acts 19.1-10
      1. Started with 12 men
      2. After 3 years, all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord.
      3. It takes work and love for God & the lost – Revelation 2.4
    2. Application – What can God do through us?
      1. We need to pray, tell others about Jesus, & encourage each other.
      2. “I give effort, God gives victory.”
         
  3. God’s Small Servants Do Not Quit.
    1. Bible Examples
      1. Job had endurance– James 5:7-9
      2. Abraham waited 25 years before Isaac was born.
      3. Paul went through many hardships but kept going. – 2 Corinthians 11.22-28
    2. Application
      1. Endure like Jesus. – Hebrews 12.1-2
      2. Pray always and not give up. – Luke 18.1
      3. “I give effort, God gives victory in His Time.”
      4. Not only is it ok to be small/weak, but God can use our weakness to prove His power. – 2 Corinthians 4.5-7; Psalm 8.1-2
